Best Wired Alarm Systems for New Builds

Building a new home is the ideal time to plan your security system properly. While wireless alarms are useful for finished homes where cabling is difficult, a wired alarm system is often the best choice for new builds because cables can be installed before walls, ceilings and finishes are completed.

For Sydney homeowners building or renovating, the Bosch Solution 3000 and Bosch Solution 6000 are two of the strongest wired alarm system options to consider. Both can provide reliable long-term protection, flexible detector options and professional installation support.

Why Wired Alarm Systems Are Ideal for New Builds

When your home is still under construction, it is much easier to run security cabling to doors, windows, motion detector locations, keypads, sirens and control equipment. This gives you a cleaner installation and a more reliable foundation for your home security system.

Wired alarms are a smart choice for new builds because they offer:

• Reliable communication between detectors, keypads and the alarm panel
• No battery reliance for most hardwired sensors
• Fewer wireless signal issues in larger or multi-level homes
• Cleaner installation when planned before plasterboard and painting
• Better long-term durability for permanent home security
• Flexible zoning for doors, windows, garages, hallways and living areas
• Future-ready options for app control, monitoring and CCTV integration

Best Wired Alarm Systems for New Builds

The best wired alarm system for a new build depends on the size of the home, how many areas you want to protect, whether you want app control, whether you need separate arming areas, and whether the system may later need access control or commercial-style features.

For most new homes, we recommend comparing the Bosch Solution 3000 and Bosch Solution 6000.

Bosch Solution 3000 – Best for Most New Homes

The Bosch Solution 3000 is a reliable wired alarm system suited to many new residential builds. It is a practical choice for homeowners wanting a dependable Bosch alarm with motion detectors, keypad control and optional smartphone app access.

The Bosch Solution 3000 is well suited to:

• Single-storey homes
• Double-storey homes with standard alarm zoning
• Townhouses and duplexes
• Family homes with garages and multiple entry points
• New builds where hardwired cabling can be installed during construction
• Homeowners wanting app control through the Bosch RSC+ App with the correct IP module

For a new build, the Bosch Solution 3000 can be planned around common security areas such as:

• Front entry door
• Rear sliding doors
• Garage internal access door
• Hallways
• Living areas
• Bedrooms or bedroom hallways
• Ground-floor window zones where reed switches are required
• External siren and internal siren locations

Bosch Solution 6000 – Best for Larger or More Advanced New Builds

The Bosch Solution 6000 is a more advanced Bosch alarm system suited to larger homes, commercial properties and sites that need greater flexibility. It is ideal when you want a system that can grow with the property over time.

The Bosch Solution 6000 is a strong option for:

• Large homes
• Luxury new builds
• Multi-level homes
• Homes with separate wings, garages, studios or granny flats
• Properties needing multiple arming areas
• Homes requiring access control integration
• Sites needing future expansion
• New builds where cabling can be installed for a more advanced alarm design

For larger properties, the Bosch Solution 6000 can help manage more complex layouts, including separate areas for the main house, garage, workshop, office, pool house or external building. It is also suitable where you may want to combine intrusion detection with access control or more advanced reporting options.

What Should Be Wired During Construction?

The best time to plan alarm wiring is before plasterboard is installed. Your electrician, builder and licensed security installer can work together to identify the right cable paths and device locations.

For a new build, consider pre-wiring for:

• Alarm control panel location
• Main keypad location near the entry
• Optional second keypad near the garage or master bedroom
• Internal siren
• External siren and blue strobe
• Motion detectors in key internal areas
• Reed switches on selected doors and windows
• Garage door reed switch
• Smoke detector integration where suitable
• Network point for app control or IP communication
• Provision for CCTV and alarm integration

Wired Motion Detectors vs Reed Switches

A good alarm design usually uses a mix of internal motion detectors and reed switches. Motion detectors are useful for covering rooms, hallways and open spaces, while reed switches monitor specific doors, windows or garage openings.

In a new build, wiring reed switches can be much easier before walls and door frames are completed. This is especially useful for:

• Front doors
• Sliding doors
• Garage entry doors
• External pedestrian doors
• Key windows on the ground floor
• Garage roller doors

Reed switches are also useful if you have pets, because they can protect openings without relying only on motion sensors in areas where pets may move around.

Should You Add App Control to a Wired Alarm?

Yes, app control is worth considering when planning a wired alarm system for a new build. App control can allow you to arm and disarm your alarm remotely, receive alerts, check activity and manage the system more conveniently.

For the Bosch Solution 3000, smartphone control can be achieved with the Bosch RSC+ App when the correct Bosch IP module is installed and configured. This is best planned during installation so the alarm panel has the right communication setup from day one.

For larger projects using the Bosch Solution 6000, app and IP communication options should be discussed during the design stage, especially if the property may require monitoring, reporting or future integration with other systems.

Should New Builds Include Alarm Monitoring?

Back-to-base alarm monitoring is worth considering if you want your alarm system to do more than sound a siren or send a notification to your phone. A monitored alarm can report alarm events to a monitoring centre, where nominated response instructions can be followed.

Monitoring is especially useful for:

• New homes that may be vacant during handover
• Families who travel regularly
• Investment properties
• Large homes or high-value properties
• Homes with detached garages, workshops or studios
• Businesses or commercial-style new builds

Can a Wired Alarm Integrate with CCTV?

Yes. A wired alarm system can form part of a broader home security plan with CCTV, app control and monitoring. For new builds, this is a good opportunity to plan cable pathways for both alarm and CCTV before the home is finished.

Planning early can help with:

• Camera locations around entries, driveways and side paths
• Network cabling for cameras and NVRs
• Alarm panel communication
• Smartphone app access
• Monitoring pathways
• Future upgrades or expansion

Professional Installation Is Important for New Builds

New builds are the perfect time to get alarm installation right. A professional installer can help identify the best locations for detectors, keypads, sirens, cabling, the control panel and future expansion points.

Professional alarm planning can help avoid common issues such as:

• Motion detectors facing windows, heat sources or moving curtains
• Missed entry points
• Poor keypad placement
• No network provision for app control
• Insufficient cabling for future detectors
• Incorrect siren or strobe locations
• Limited upgrade options later

CTC Communications provides professional home alarm installations and alarm installation packages for Sydney homes.

Our Recommendation

For most new homes, the Bosch Solution 3000 is a strong wired alarm system choice. It offers reliable protection, practical detector options and app control capability when set up with the correct IP module.

For larger homes, premium new builds, multi-area properties or sites that may need access control and greater expansion, the Bosch Solution 6000 is the better long-term option.

If you are building a new home, it is worth planning your alarm system before internal walls and ceilings are finished. This gives you the best opportunity to install a clean, reliable and future-ready wired security system.
