FSH FEM4300M-BLK Slimline Magnetic Door Lock – Single, Monitored, Black

Secure compatible access-controlled doors with the slimline FSH FEM4300M-BLK Magnetic Door Lock.

Designed for single-door commercial applications, this monitored electromagnetic lock provides up to 280kg holding strength, field-selectable 12V or 24V DC operation and integrated lock and door status monitoring. Its black finish provides a discreet appearance on compatible dark door frames and modern commercial entrances.

The FEM4300M-BLK operates as a fail-safe magnetic lock. It remains locked while power is applied and releases when power is removed, subject to correct access control and emergency-release configuration.

Door and Lock Status Monitoring

The FEM4300M-BLK provides two monitoring outputs for compatible access control and security equipment:

  • Lock Status Sensor (LSS): Monitors whether the armature plate is correctly aligned and securely held against the magnetic lock
  • Door Status Sensor (DSS): Monitors whether the door is open or closed

These outputs allow compatible systems to receive feedback about both the door position and the magnetic lock status. A red/green status LED also provides a quick visual indication at the door.

Fail-Safe Magnetic Lock Operation

The FEM4300M-BLK is a fail-safe or Power to Lock electromagnetic lock. Electrical power creates the magnetic holding force that secures the armature plate against the lock body.

When power is removed, the magnetic field is released and the door can open. The access control system, emergency door release, fire system interface and backup power arrangements must be designed to meet the requirements of the site.

No Residual Magnetism

The FEM4300 Series is designed to avoid residual magnetism after power is removed. This helps the armature plate release cleanly, reducing door sticking and supporting smoother operation.

Installation and Compatibility

The FEM4300M-BLK must be matched with the door, frame, armature plate, mounting brackets, access controller and power supply. Correct alignment between the magnetic lock and armature plate is essential for achieving the specified holding strength.

This model is not listed as weather resistant. A suitable weather-rated magnetic lock should be selected for external doors exposed to rain or other environmental conditions.

Professional installation by a suitably qualified security or access control technician is recommended. Emergency release, fire-system integration and applicable egress requirements must also be confirmed before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions Magnetic Door Locks

Magnetic door locks work by using a magnet to hold the door closed. The magnet is typically located on the door frame, and the metal armature is located on the door. When the door is closed, the magnet and armature come together and create a strong magnetic force that holds the door in place.

  • Monitored magnetic door locks are connected to a central security system. This allows the system to monitor the status of the door and to generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Monitored magnetic door locks are more secure than non-monitored door locks, but they are also more expensive.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are not connected to a central security system. This means that they cannot generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are less secure than monitored door locks, but they are also less expensive.
  • Magnetic door locks are used in a variety of commercial and industrial settings, including:
  • Office buildings
  • Schools
  • Hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Retail stores
  • Warehouses
  • Factories

Magnetic door locks are very difficult to pick or force open, making them a good choice for securing valuable assets. However, it is important to note that no lock is completely foolproof, and a determined thief may still be able to break into a door that is secured with a magnetic lock.

Installing a magnetic door lock is a relatively simple process that can be completed in a few minutes. The first step is to mark the location of the magnet and armature on the door frame and door. Once the locations are marked, the magnet and armature can be attached using the included screws.

If your magnetic door lock is not working properly, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that the magnet and armature are properly aligned. If they are not, the lock will not be able to create a strong enough magnetic force to hold the door closed. Second, check the wiring to make sure that there are no loose or damaged connections. Finally, check the power supply to make sure that it is providing enough power to the lock.

  • Magnetic door locks are very secure. They are difficult to defeat, even by experienced burglars.
  • Magnetic door locks are very reliable. They are not subject to mechanical failure, like traditional door locks.
  • Magnetic door locks are very convenient. They can be opened with a key card, a key fob, or a password.
