FSH FEM6600D Standard Double Magnetic Door Lock – Non-Monitored, 580kg, 12/24V DC

The FSH FEM6600D is a standard double electromagnetic door lock designed for commercial access control installations requiring strong fail-safe locking across two door leaves. It incorporates two magnetic locks, with each magnet providing a holding strength of up to 580kg.

Operating from field-selectable 12V or 24V DC power, the FEM6600D provides fail-safe, Power To Lock operation and releases both doors when electrical power is removed. It is suitable for compatible access control panels, intercom systems, card readers, keypads and door controllers where monitoring outputs are not required.

Key Features of the FSH FEM6600D

  • Standard double electromagnetic door lock
  • Up to 580kg holding strength per magnetic lock
  • Two magnetic locks for paired door leaves
  • Non-monitored configuration without LSS or DSS outputs
  • Fail-safe, Power To Lock operation
  • Field-selectable 12V or 24V DC input
  • Surface-mount installation
  • Built-in MOV surge protection
  • No residual magnetism when power is removed
  • Satin anodised aluminium housing
  • Zinc-plated electromagnetic lock bodies
  • Two carbon-free steel armature plates
  • Fire tested for up to 2 hours
  • Five-year mechanical and electronic manufacturer warranty

High-Strength Locking for Double Doors

The FEM6600D combines two full-sized electromagnetic locks within a single double-door housing. Each magnet operates with its own armature plate and provides up to 580kg holding strength for the corresponding door leaf.

This configuration is suitable for wider commercial entrances where both doors must be secured through the same access control system.

Non-Monitored Configuration

The FSH FEM6600D is the non-monitored double-door model in the FEM6600 Series. It does not include:

  • Lock Status Sensor (LSS)
  • Door Status Sensor (DSS)
  • Red and green LED status indication
  • Remote door or lock status outputs

Where monitoring and visual status indication are required, the corresponding monitored model is the FSH FEM6600DM.

Fail-Safe Magnetic Locking

The FEM6600D operates in fail-safe or Power To Lock mode. Electrical power is applied to secure both door leaves, and the magnetic locks release when power is removed.

This allows the lock to be integrated with compatible emergency exit devices, break-glass units, access control panels and fire-alarm interfaces. Emergency egress requirements must be considered when designing the complete door locking system.

Dual-Voltage 12/24V DC Operation

Field-selectable 12V or 24V DC operation provides flexibility when connecting the FEM6600D to commercial access control power supplies.

Each magnetic lock draws approximately:

  • 500mA at 12V DC
  • 250mA at 24V DC

For the complete double lock, allow approximately 1A at 12V DC or 500mA at 24V DC. The power supply must also accommodate the access controller and any other connected devices.

No Residual Magnetism

The FEM6600D is designed without residual magnetism after power is removed. This helps both door leaves release cleanly following an authorised access request, emergency release or interruption to the power supply.

Frequently Asked Questions Magnetic Door Locks

Magnetic door locks work by using a magnet to hold the door closed. The magnet is typically located on the door frame, and the metal armature is located on the door. When the door is closed, the magnet and armature come together and create a strong magnetic force that holds the door in place.

  • Monitored magnetic door locks are connected to a central security system. This allows the system to monitor the status of the door and to generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Monitored magnetic door locks are more secure than non-monitored door locks, but they are also more expensive.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are not connected to a central security system. This means that they cannot generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are less secure than monitored door locks, but they are also less expensive.
  • Magnetic door locks are used in a variety of commercial and industrial settings, including:
  • Office buildings
  • Schools
  • Hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Retail stores
  • Warehouses
  • Factories

Magnetic door locks are very difficult to pick or force open, making them a good choice for securing valuable assets. However, it is important to note that no lock is completely foolproof, and a determined thief may still be able to break into a door that is secured with a magnetic lock.

Installing a magnetic door lock is a relatively simple process that can be completed in a few minutes. The first step is to mark the location of the magnet and armature on the door frame and door. Once the locations are marked, the magnet and armature can be attached using the included screws.

If your magnetic door lock is not working properly, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that the magnet and armature are properly aligned. If they are not, the lock will not be able to create a strong enough magnetic force to hold the door closed. Second, check the wiring to make sure that there are no loose or damaged connections. Finally, check the power supply to make sure that it is providing enough power to the lock.

  • Magnetic door locks are very secure. They are difficult to defeat, even by experienced burglars.
  • Magnetic door locks are very reliable. They are not subject to mechanical failure, like traditional door locks.
  • Magnetic door locks are very convenient. They can be opened with a key card, a key fob, or a password.
