FSH FEM5700 Standard Single Magnetic Door Lock – Non-Monitored, 580kg, 12/24V DC

The FSH FEM5700 is a standard single electromagnetic door lock designed for commercial access control installations requiring strong and reliable fail-safe locking. It provides a holding strength of up to 580kg and supports field-selectable 12V or 24V DC operation.

This non-monitored magnetic lock operates in Power To Lock mode and releases when electrical power is removed. It is suitable for compatible access control systems, intercoms, card readers, keypads and door controllers where lock or door status monitoring is not required.

Key Features of the FSH FEM5700

  • Standard single magnetic door lock for commercial access control
  • Up to 580kg holding strength
  • Non-monitored model without LSS or DSS outputs
  • Fail-safe, Power To Lock operation
  • Field-selectable 12V or 24V DC input
  • Surface-mount configuration
  • Built-in MOV surge protection
  • No residual magnetism when power is removed
  • Satin anodised aluminium housing
  • Zinc-plated electromagnetic lock body
  • Carbon-free steel armature plate
  • Fire tested for up to 4 hours
  • Five-year manufacturer warranty

Strong 580kg Magnetic Holding Force

With a holding strength of up to 580kg, the FEM5700 is suitable for commercial doors requiring a higher level of electromagnetic locking than a standard slimline magnetic lock can provide.

The full-sized magnetic lock and armature plate provide a strong connection when correctly installed and aligned, helping secure controlled entrances in offices, commercial buildings and restricted staff areas.

Non-Monitored Configuration

The FSH FEM5700 is the non-monitored single-door model in the FEM5700 Series. It does not include:

  • Lock Status Sensor (LSS)
  • Door Status Sensor (DSS)
  • Long-distance Light Panel (LP)
  • Remote lock or door status outputs

Where these monitoring functions are required, the corresponding monitored model is the FSH FEM5700M.

Fail-Safe Magnetic Locking

The FEM5700 operates in fail-safe or Power To Lock mode. Electrical power is applied to secure the door, and the magnetic lock releases when power is removed.

This operation allows the lock to be integrated with compatible emergency exit devices, break-glass units, access control panels and fire-alarm interfaces. Emergency egress requirements must be considered when designing the complete locking system.

Dual-Voltage 12/24V DC Operation

Field-selectable 12V or 24V DC operation provides flexibility when connecting the FEM5700 to commercial access control power supplies.

  • 12V DC: approximately 500mA
  • 24V DC: approximately 260mA

The power supply should be sized to accommodate the magnetic lock, access control panel and any other devices connected to the system.

No Residual Magnetism

The FEM5700 is designed to release without residual magnetism after power is removed. This helps prevent unnecessary resistance when the door is opened following an authorised access request, emergency release or power interruption.

Compatibility and availability should be confirmed before ordering.

Fire-Rated Door Applications

The FEM5700 has been fire tested for up to four hours to applicable Australian and British fire test standards. Suitability depends on the complete doorset, mounting arrangement and fire-door manufacturer requirements.

Approval must be confirmed before installing the magnetic lock on a fire-rated door.

Installation Note

The FSH FEM5700 should be installed by a qualified security or access control technician. Door alignment, mounting brackets, power supply capacity, cable protection, emergency release devices and fire-alarm integration must be considered during system design.

An appropriate L&Z bracket may be required where the door and frame configuration does not support standard direct mounting.

Electronic Door Locks

Frequently Asked Questions Magnetic Door Locks

Magnetic door locks work by using a magnet to hold the door closed. The magnet is typically located on the door frame, and the metal armature is located on the door. When the door is closed, the magnet and armature come together and create a strong magnetic force that holds the door in place.

  • Monitored magnetic door locks are connected to a central security system. This allows the system to monitor the status of the door and to generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Monitored magnetic door locks are more secure than non-monitored door locks, but they are also more expensive.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are not connected to a central security system. This means that they cannot generate an alarm if the door is opened without authorization.
  • Non-monitored magnetic door locks are less secure than monitored door locks, but they are also less expensive.
  • Magnetic door locks are used in a variety of commercial and industrial settings, including:
  • Office buildings
  • Schools
  • Hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Retail stores
  • Warehouses
  • Factories

Magnetic door locks are very difficult to pick or force open, making them a good choice for securing valuable assets. However, it is important to note that no lock is completely foolproof, and a determined thief may still be able to break into a door that is secured with a magnetic lock.

Installing a magnetic door lock is a relatively simple process that can be completed in a few minutes. The first step is to mark the location of the magnet and armature on the door frame and door. Once the locations are marked, the magnet and armature can be attached using the included screws.

If your magnetic door lock is not working properly, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that the magnet and armature are properly aligned. If they are not, the lock will not be able to create a strong enough magnetic force to hold the door closed. Second, check the wiring to make sure that there are no loose or damaged connections. Finally, check the power supply to make sure that it is providing enough power to the lock.

  • Magnetic door locks are very secure. They are difficult to defeat, even by experienced burglars.
  • Magnetic door locks are very reliable. They are not subject to mechanical failure, like traditional door locks.
  • Magnetic door locks are very convenient. They can be opened with a key card, a key fob, or a password.
