Best For: Home entrances, garages, shopfronts and small business areas with reliable Wi-Fi coverage and nearby power, where running an Ethernet cable is difficult.
Hikvision DS-2CV2041G2-IDW 4MP EXIR Wi-Fi Bullet Camera
The Hikvision DS-2CV2041G2-IDW offers 4MP outdoor video monitoring with wireless network connectivity and built-in audio. This listing is the 2.8mm E-revision model, providing a wide view for everyday coverage of entrances and access areas.
Wi-Fi can reduce the need for network cabling, but the camera still needs a 12V DC power connection. Before choosing it for remote viewing, check the E revision's client limitations: Hikvision lists iVMS-4200 for Wi-Fi operation and states that direct Hik-Connect access over Wi-Fi is not supported.

Wi-Fi Connectivity with a Separate Power Supply
The camera connects to a 2.4GHz wireless network using 802.11b/g/n. Check the signal at the proposed mounting position before installation: walls, metal sheds, distance and other wireless devices can affect video stability. A Wi-Fi coverage assessment is especially useful for detached garages and buildings.
Wireless connectivity does not make this a battery-powered camera. It requires 12V DC power; PoE is not listed as a power option for this model. An RJ45 Ethernet port also allows a wired network connection. Hikvision's E datasheet lists a switching power adapter in the package.
Remote Viewing: Check the E-Revision Requirements
The E-revision datasheet lists Hik-Connect and iVMS-4200 on a wired network, and iVMS-4200 for Wi-Fi. It specifically states that direct Wi-Fi connection with Hik-Connect is not possible. If smartphone access is a priority, confirm the proposed wired connection or compatible recorder arrangement with CTC Communications before ordering.
Recorder-based remote viewing, audio and playback functions depend on the recorder, firmware and network configuration. The presence of Wi-Fi alone does not establish Hik-Connect compatibility.
Wide-Angle 2.8mm Lens and Infrared Night Vision
The supplied fixed lens gives a broad view of an entrance or access area. Position the camera around the detail you need to see; a wide view will not provide the same distant detail as a narrower lens positioned for a specific target.
EXIR infrared supports black-and-white imaging after dark. Keep nearby walls, eaves and reflective objects out of the immediate foreground where possible to avoid reflected IR affecting the picture. The 30m illumination rating is not a guaranteed face or number plate identification distance.
Two-Way Audio and Motion Recording
A built-in microphone and speaker let you listen and speak through a compatible, configured client. Audio recording must be enabled in the chosen recording setup. Check audio support when pairing the camera with an NVR.
The E datasheet lists basic motion detection and exception events. Motion settings can trigger recording or capture and notify supported monitoring software. This listing does not promise AcuSense human/vehicle classification or strobe-light deterrence.
Storage and Outdoor Installation
A compatible microSD card provides local recording up to 512GB, with retention determined by resolution, bitrate and recording schedule. A compatible NVR can provide central storage; verify camera support and the required audio functions before pairing.
The IP66 enclosure resists dust and powerful water jets. Protect cable joints and the power adapter appropriately, and select mounting hardware for the surface. IP66 does not establish a vandal-resistance or specialist corrosion rating.
Suitable Applications
- Home entrances and driveways with nearby power and strong Wi-Fi.
- Garages, sheds and side access areas after checking signal coverage.
- Shopfronts, small offices and commercial entrances.
- Existing CCTV systems needing an additional compatible camera view.
